I may be considered a hypocrit because I "benefitted" from food stamps for 6 or so months as a child of a single mom. I also remember my grandmother being pissed when she found out and saying "families take care of family and we don't need this". Back in the 70-80's there was a stigma attached to handouts and most people would rather work and earn instead of taking government aid. The same can't be said today since the monthly amount is loaded on a credit card, it is just like free money and no one sees you cashing in your food stamps. I also renovate houses on the side and it seems EVERY subcontractor I use is on some form of aid(disability, welfare, medicaid, food stamps) and either refuses work until next month so their income does not cause them to lose their benefits or they have tons of illegitimate kids we are paying for. There is also very few limitations on what can be purchased with food stamps (sodas, candy, and junk food) and then taxpayers get to treat the tooth decay and diabetes.
I'm 100% for someone coming to this country that wants to work and provide for their family but this country can't afford the people on the tit now so I'm going to have to stick to my 10 year limit. Welcome to America if you are here to be self sustaining but please proceed through to Canada if you are looking for a free ride.
