Listening to all the Kobe vs. Lebron talk got me thinking back to the 80's when the NBA still had some class and people actually did something called a jump shot. Granted, I was a child of the 80's being born in the mid 70's, but if you look at the rundown, it is hard not to say cats like Jordan, Bird and Magic would not school the glorified gang bangers of today.Tit for tat, best of best, what era was the best and why? Also, 1980's vs 2000+, I think you have to make the line:80's -10.0Thoughts?Past Topic of the Day (If you missed one, click the link and bring the conversation back!):Topic of the Day: Your Biggest Gambling Score?Topic of the Day: Do you support Gay Marriage?Topic of the Day: Kobe or Lebron?Topic of the Day: Early CFB Best Bet (lines inside)Topic of the Day: Who Should Mitt Romney Pick For VP?Topic of the Day: Greatest Victory in the History of Sports?Topic of the Day: Do you remember your 1st bet?Topic of the Day: Best Concert Seen Live?Topic of the Day: Big time sporting events have you seen live?Topic of the Day: Most overrated athletes of all time?Topic of the Day: Worst Gambling Beat EverTopic of the Day: Who Do You Plan to Vote for & WhyTopic of the Day: Who Do You Plan to Vote for & Why?Topic of the Day: Who is your favorite pro wrestler?Topic of the Day: Best Sports Video Game of All Time?

My opinion is the 80's era was best by far, like you I am child of 80's so didnt get to watch Wilt or Coozy or any of those guys. In the 80's the guys were competive and had heart, fun to watch them play, todays players might be stronger and better conditioned. I would eat chalk and take 80's -10, just to pull for them. 80's also had some good characters and nicknames
Michael "AIR" Jordan
Ervin "MAGIC" Johnson
Dennis "THE WORM" Rodman
Reggie "SKELETOR" Miller - this might have been just local?
Carl "THE MAILMAN" Malone
Especially if they played by the rules from the 80's.
