This Twitter purchase for $44 billion (twice its valuation) will go down as one of the most dumb ass things in history. Fun to watch!
This is fine meme….
.
Company deserved to get *****.
What do they do? Really?
Didn't a chunk of his money (early on) come from his dad and his Zambian emerald mine? I can't remember for certain, but I do know that I'd be pretty rich if my dad used slaves to mine for emeralds too. Blood money.....
EDIT: Seems to have just been a rumor.
As far as dumb billionaires.......I don't know any billionaires but working in the corporate world for a while. I know a lot of dumb CEO's, CFO's, etc. Getting a title does not make you smart. Lots of people have titles and are complete morons. I don't think having money = Smart. Money provides access to resources, but don't get access to resources confused with smart. I also read a story that before this deal went thru elon tried to back out. He claimed he didn't realize their were so many fake twitter accounts. Twitter sued him to continue thru with the deal. So if you believe this man IS really smart even he had doubts right before.
that's correct AJ. He got cold feet after making the $44B offer and Twitter had to take him to court to complete the deal. The fake accounts accusation was his last ditch effort to get out of the deal. When he realized it wasn't going to work, he tried to save face by agreeing to his original offer.
