NBA Friday Atlanta Hawks vs Brooklyn Nets Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

NBA basketball on Friday night and we will see Atlanta Hawks travel to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York to take on the Brooklyn Nets. The game has a start time of 7:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised locally. Vegas odds have the Nets listed as 5.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 202.5.

Stat Packs: The Atlanta Hawks have had a rough year as they come in at 35-43 overall and 12-27 on the road, bust still they hold down the 8th playoff spot, in what is a very weak Eastern Conference overall. Atlanta has won 3 of their last 4 games overall but are 0-2 vs the Nets this year. Offensively the Hawks are pretty average as they put up 101.1 ppg (13th) on 45.7% shooting (12th). Paul Milsap does just about everything for this team, as he leads them in scoring (17.9 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg), FG% (46.1%) and steals (1.8 spg). Overall 5 active players average double figures on the team, with Jeff Teague (16.5 ppg) and Kyler Korver (12.3 ppg) being 2nd and 3rd on the team in scoring respectively. Kyle is the best long range threat for this team and his 184 3-pointers made are the fifth-most in Hawks history, five behind his total from last season. The Defense is also pretty average for this team, as they allow 101.9 ppg (17th) on 46.2% shooting (21st).

The Brooklyn Nets come in at 43-35 on the year overall and they are pretty much assured the 5th seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Nets have won 15 in a row at home and are 27-11 at the Barclays center overall this year. The Nets average just 98.9 ppg on the year, but they are a solid shooting team, hitting 46% of their shots to rank 10th in the league, while also hitting 37% from long range, which is 11th. 5 players average in double figures led by Joe Johnson, who scores 15.9 ppg, while Deron Williams (14.3 ppg) and Paul Pierce (13.5 ppg) round out the top 3 scorers on the team. Pierce needs five points to become the fourth active player and the 18th in NBA history with 25,000 career points. On the defensive end of the floor the Nets have been solid, as they have allowed just 99.4 ppg on the year, to rank 9th in the league.

Pick: I am going with the Nets in this one. This is a team that is building momentum as we head to the playoffs and they are not a team that has been taking nights off. Atlanta does need this game, but they have been horrible on the road this year and the Nets have won 15 in a row at home, plus Brooklyn has taken both meetings this year with the last one being by 17 pints at Atlanta. I expect the Nets to take this one by nearly 10 points.
