Tuesday Baseball Texas Rangers vs Boston Red Sox Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Tuesday night baseball and we will see the Texas Rangers take on the Boston Red Sox in game 2 of their 3 game series from Fenway Park in Boston. First pitch is scheduled for a 6:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on locally.

Current Odds

Texas        +120
Boston       -140

Over/ Under: 9.5 U -120

Analysis: The Texas Rangers come in at 3-4 on the year, after last night's 5-1 loss to the Red Sox. The Offense has really struggled for this team, as they have scored just 16 total in their last 6 games, after putting up a 10 spot in their opener vs the Phillies. Prince Fielder was the big signing for this team but hey has yet to pay dividends as he is hitting just .143 with O HR's and 1 RBIs through 7 games. Clearly not they were expecting from him, thus far, but Im sure he will still but up solid numbers this year, especially hitting in Texas during the summer. On the mound for the Rangers will be Martin Perez, who allowed 7 hits and 2 ER's in 5.2 innings of work in his opening start vs Philadelphia. Perez has faced the Red Sox just once in his career (2012) and he allowed 1 ER in 6 innings of work in that start.

The Boston Red Sox beat team 5-1 in the opening game of this series to snap their 3 game losing streak. Last year they didn't lose 4 games in a row all year and they avoided doing that on Monday. The Red Sox had some offensive struggles, but they did pound out 14 hits in the win vs Texas last night. Mike Napoil had 3 of them and is now 6-13 in his last 3 games. David Ortiz has 1 Homer on the year thus far and is jus two homers away from tying Juan Gonzalez, Andruw Jones and Paul Konerko for 42nd on the all-time list at 434. Getting the ball tonight for the Red Sox is Felix Doubront, who allowed 3 ERs on 6 hits in 5.1 innings of work in his opening start vs the Baltimore Orioles. Doubront has struggled in six career appearances against the Rangers, going 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA and a .443 opponents BA.

Pick:  I like the Sox in this one. I had them yesterday and will come right back with them here. The Sox were an awesome home team last year, but have started out 1-3 at Fenway thus far and you can bet that this team is not happy about that. Their offense broke out a bit last night, while the Rangers offense continues to struggle, especially Fielder, who is hitting just .143 out the gate. Doubront has struggled with the Rangers in his career, but this is a weaker offense than he has faced in the past. I look for Boston to take game two here behind a solid outing from Doubront and another good showing from their offense.
