WTA - French Open Winner - Sam Stosur (+10000)
WTA - French Open 4th Quarter Winner - Sam Stosur (+1400) WINNER
Pop quiz: Over the last 7 years, which WTA player has won the most singles matches at Roland Garros? You'd probably guess, Serena, right? She's close, with 23 wins. Maybe Vika? Nope, just 18 wins. How about Aga? 15 wins. Two players are tied with 25 wins at the French since 2009 and you probably would've never guessed either. Slammin' Sam Stosur and Svetlana Kuznetsova. Sam has two semi-finals and one finals appearance during this stretch. Versus players outside the T20, Stosur has a 20-2 mark at the French since '09. Sam has always enjoyed the slower surface and she continues to perform well on it, well into the twilight of her career. Not including Fed Cup matches, Sam is 22-1 on clay vs. players outside the T20, dating back to last May.
As far as I'm concerned, the 4th quarter of the draw is wide open. Stosur avoids Serena, Vika, Kerber, Keys and Mugu until the semis. Halep still can't be trusted, even after winning Madrid. She has always been hit or miss at the French as well with 1st round exits in '10, '12 and '13 and a 2nd round exit last year. Aga has never been past the quarters at Roland Garros including a 1st round exit last year. Safarova has struggled with illness since her finals appearance at the French last year, winning just 17 of 33 matches. This quarter is Sammy's for the taking.
I will add Stosur to win the 4th quarter when those lines come out tomorrow.
