I was OK with the Packers taking Jordan Love. Just not the rest of their picks. Love obviously is a huge gamble with high reward potential. He needs to observe for a couple of years. This was a perfect spot to bring out the best in him. Problem is the Packers don't have the QB coaching gurus they used to have.
The rest of the Packers' picks were reaches.
It seems the Packers' brain trust no longer trusts Rodgers after two bad losses to the 49ers so they have to shore up the ground game and tweak the passing attack. LaFleur has some Kyle Shanahan roots. LaFleur is trying to copy Shanahan's offensive philosophy of the run setting up the pass.
Gutekunst's ego may have gotten in the way of his not taking any wide receivers since he drafted a bunch of them a couple of years ago. He still wants to see if they can produce.
Taking Rashun Gary in the first round last year followed by this year's draft - which I would give an F grade - completely lowers my pevious wait-and-see attitude on Gutekunst.
