Greetings:
With last nights Chicago victory we for the second time saw the chink in the armor of the Rams. What does this mean?
1.The Saints will get home field in the playoffs. Yes this is the number one take from this result, New Orleans looks like home field could go their way in a year where they look like the favorite clear cut in the conference. In fact the only two teams I see as contenders now in the NFC are the defensive juggernauts, Dallas and Chicago.
2.The Chicago Bears defense moves them into contender position, because defense wins playoff games, and could potentially travel to Los Angeles or New Orleans and setup the Bears to have a chance in underdog role. I still say Dallas and the way the defense has played in holding Atlanta under 20 at home, holding New Orleans to 10 in a primetime game, is still the only one with an actual chance to beat Brees in the playoffs. However, Chicago and special players on that defense, Mack and Fuller, could make this a special year. Its a game of inches and when you stop the other team from getting those inches, your defense and lines are winning the trenches.
3. The NFC Rankings in my view: New Orleans, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles. Yea I know the Rams are 1 or 2 in many eyes. However they still have a bit of growing room, which in the playoffs might show up. Solid Defense and an offense that can put up 40 any given day, just as New Orleans, but Brees is 5'10" Brady, or maybe better this year. While Goff is hoping to get to that level, and might be there soon. Dallas has struggled early, but the D is back and maybe the best I've seen in Dallas since Charles Haley and Deon Sanders. By the way Dallas will most likely win out, unless they secure position at 3 and can't advance to first round bye and rest final game.
Any thoughts, inputs, or comments are welcome. Best of Luck to all.
