Great work
Ththaman. I do not feel equipped enough (yet) to have a strong opinion on the league's overall talent pool this year vs. other years.
But...
I was discussing the starting QB's with
Stephen Nover yesterday--we feel the same as you do that this year's QB talent level is higher than last year's (and in other years).
Here are some of the lower tier QBs that started in Week 1 of last season with their better replacements for this season:
1. DeShone Kizer-->Tyrod Taylor
2. Trevor Siemian-->Case Keenum
3. Jay Cutler-->Ryan Tannehill
4. Brian Hoyer-->Jimmy Garoppolo
5. Tom Savage-->Deshaun Watson
6. Jacoby Brissett-->Andrew Luck (possibly)
7. Mike Glennon-->Mitch Trubisky (not sure this is an upgrade immediately, long-term, could be an upgrade)
8. Sam Bradford-->Kirk Cousins (upgrade if you factor in health history)
Conversely, not many teams that got worse at QB from last year Week 1 to this year Week 1:
1. Carson Palmer-->Sam Bradford (downgrade if you factor in health history)
2. Alex Smith-->Patrick Mahomes (downgrade immediately in my opinion, long-term, could be an upgrade)
Interested to hear your take on this year's worst 5 QBs?
Thanks for the awesome post.
