Oakland Raiders
Strength= Passing offense: The Raiders have one of the leagues best offensive lines, best quarterbacks, and top playmakers surrounding their quarterback. Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree are one of the leagues best pass catching duos, and the Raiders got better this offseason, adding Jared Cook, and gadget player Cordarelle Patterson.
Weakness= Linebacker: The Raiders have talent on the edges, but the team is lacking many three down talented linebackers, and that could be a huge problem if they have to go against some of the leagues better pass catching tight ends and running backs. The interior defensive line was a consideration as well.
Kansas City Chiefs
Strength= Pass Defense: Eric Berry is one of the leagues top safeties, and Marcus Peters is one of the leagues top corners. FS Ron Parker led the all safeties in the NFL in pass breakups. Justin Houston is a year removed from a knee injury that hampered him for parts of last season, and Chris Jones could be an emerging player in the interior DLine for KC.
Weakness= Passing Offense: The Chiefs have more weaknesses then the public believes. The team had a below average run D, run O, and pass O last season. The team feasted on excellent special teams play and winning the turnover battle. I can’t see this team taking the next step in the passing game with Alex Smith at QB. The chiefs are really lacking any depth at WR behind Tyreek Hill, who has yet to prove he can be a number one receiver. Travis Kelce is a top 3 tight end in the NFL but can’t carry the passing offense by himself. I believe the Patrick Mahomes era will be starting in 2018 for KC.
San Diego Chargers
Strength= Offensive Weapons: This chargers team has an abundance of talented players on both sides of the ball. Their wideouts are talented but often injured Keenan Allen, last years emerging weapon Tyrell Williams, 7th overall pick Mike Williams, last years free agent signing Travis Benjamin, and Dontrelle Inman. They may have the deepest WR core in the NFL. Hunter Henry is an emerging talent at TE, and his backup is the future HOF’er Antonio Gates. Melvin Gordon emerged as a solid NFL RB last season as well, giving this team a ridiculous amount of weapons.
Weakness= Offensive Line: Last year the Chargers Oline played poor, and Phillip Rivers noticeably had happy feet at the end of the season. Rivers absorbed the 7th most hits in the NFL for a QB last season. The Chargers did invest heavily into the guard position in the first 3 rounds of the draft, but this team could use players to step up all over the offensive line.
Denver Broncos
Strength= Secondary: Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, and Bradley Roby are the league’s best cornerback group. The ability this team has to play tight man coverage is second to none. TJ Ward and FS Darian Stewart are no slouches at safety either. Teams often target the tight ends and running backs against Denver because they know the danger of throwing at the Broncos league best cornerbacks.
Weakness= Offensive Line: Quarterback was a consideration, but this Broncos team could not run or pass block last season. The team did add players, such as rookie LT Garett Bowles, RT Menlik Watson, and also Guard Ronald Leary. But it is a question mark if this line will gel, and also a question mark on how effective the two tackles will be. The Broncos have only one solid starter returning from last season, center Matt Paradis
