I will answer in a reasonable way because the topic is so serious – but, first I'll state that I find Madman's approach to his "question" to be contemptible.
My business approach has always been to hire the best person for the job. I strongly believe that my record in this regard would hold up to intense scrutiny. Any business who hires for any other reason is at a competitive disadvantage.
Years ago we proceeded with adding Robert Littal (founder of BlackSportsOnline.com) as a handicapper . . . we got as far as signing contracts and him providing some content to the site - but soon after he realized that his passion to grow his website was greater than his passion to be a handicapper. This was his decision.
A nuanced point to consider in this discussion is that if there were a tie regarding "the best person for the job,” there would be a business-driven tie-breaking advantage for the NON middle-aged (or older) white male. The simple reason being that any other grouping (e.g., young, woman, minority) would have a built-in marketing differentiator which would likely translate into a sales advantage. In fact, competitors of ours who sell “fake” handicappers will sometimes have fake minority handicappers just for this reason.
But, our Pregame Pros are real, and the standard of expertise is high. I am always open to serious suggestions about ANY handicapper who could meet our standard . . .
