Scott - Hope we are not limited to one comment or one question, as everyone wants to get their question answered and hear your opinion on their comment. So if I'm "breaking in line" , just disregard here and catch me next time.
When I frequented the old Churchill Downs Race & Sportsbook, many years ago on a daily basis, while residing in the Jockey Club next to Ceasars, I met a very young guy, who was a clerk at Churchill, who was a totally dedicated guy to handicapping college basketball. Not sure if he worked the NBA, but this young man, for his age, was the most knowledgable young man I ever met regarding capping CBB. His name was Richard Klamian (hope I'm spelling his last name correctly). Richard was actually so good, many of the old timers paid him for his leans, and I certainly played his highest rated games, and rewarded him for his efforts. I was wondering if he was still around, as I'm 64 and I guess he'd be definitely younger than me. Do you know him, or see him and if so, do you know if he ever "made it" as a success in handicapping CBB or in any other capacity in the sportsbook industry? Thank you Scott. If you do indeed know him and/or see him, please give him my regards. He would know me as Harry from New Orleans, "the kid who came with the steam horses from New Orleans."
P.S. Mr. Harry Gordon, ownr of The Chiurchill Downs Race & Sportsbook, one day asked me to please STOP giving "hot" horses to the older guys (mostly runners and bookmakers) the steam horses, which came in to me 2 or 5 times a week. He told me, "son I wil move a dime to win for you, but come to my office and see me personally, so I can tack on and lay yours off." Of course I said yes sir, and did not realize the money that was being wagered by my unintentionaly giving these horses to clerks and the shoe shine guy in the mens room. One week, I gave a horse to one person, the shoe shine guy at Churchill, I never dreamed how quick that info traveled, as it cost Churchill over $60 K, and by the time they tried to lay any off, the whole strip had it. That would never happen today for a multitude of reasons I'm sure you know. As I look back on those days, I never realized how good I had it! Just sharing!
