So I played Ludvig Aberg to finish in the top 20 of the Valero Open, at -120. He finished tied for 14th so I’m thinking “winner!”. Look at FD and I’m paid less that 20% of what I’m expecting. Contact their support and after being transferred I get this answer as to why my payout was less than expected……
”Thank you for your patience Michael! Your wager was affected by Dead Heat Grading. "Dead heat" rules happen when two or more sides of a bet are tied at the end of the match or game. This means there are more winners than expected, which will reduce any winnings on the wager.
In its simplest terms, If two players tie, half the stake is applied to the selection at full odds and the other half is lost. If more than two “dead heats” are declared, the stake is proportioned accordingly. For example, in a Top 20 market where 4 players tied for 20th, only 1/4 of the stake is applied to the wager and paid on the odds.”
I’ve never seen this before in my golf wagers, so unsure if I should be pissed. As of now, books can **** **** off before they ever get another wager that has a possibility of multiple ties.
This post is both a heads up to others but I also won’t like to know if this is common amongst books.
