Dawgs coming off just a straight shellacking of South Carolina. That train was not going to be stopped last Saturday. Not by that team. Now comes in Kent State. The spread I'm seeing is 45-46 pts and 61-61 O/U. Kent State has played 2 Power 5 teams. Lost to Washington 45-20 to open the season and then 33-3 to Oklahoma. Vs Washington they were able to score 13 1st half points and Vs Oklahoma they held the Sooners to 7 1H points and had them punt on their 1st 4 drives. This one looked to be a classic case of just taking them very lightly.
12:00 noon kickoffs vs inferior opponents are always cause for concern with coaches. It's hard to convince kids they need to get ultra focused for the opponent. Georgia came out vs Samford a couple weeks ago and looked like they were just going through the motions. Their first 2 drives, Stetson overthrew 2 receivers that would of scored easily. They settled for FG’s. It was just a bland 33-0 victory on a pretty overcast and gray day. The Dawgs are back on the road next week, so I believe Kirby will have them focused and ready to put on a little show for the home crowd that. Georgia has scored on every 1st Q possession this season. The Dawgs should be able to get at least 3 possessions in the 1st quarter but I feel I’ll only need to 2 to cover my bet. -13.5 1Q
The one thing I know that wont be a problem is the D. They are trying to exceed the standard set last year. The sideline was visibly upset last week when SC scored the TD toward the end of the game. They don't want anyone scoring TD's. No one! So I know all up and down the D depth chart they will come to play Saturday until the final whistle and they’ll want to see a zero on the board. No doubt.
This Kent St D is atrocious. Washington and Oklahoma QB’s combined for 70% completion approx 650 yards and 7 td’s. Monken will keep scoring and throwing until Kirby tells him to stop. I can easily see GA doing what they did last year to UAB (35-0 at half), Charleston Southern (49-0 at half), Vandy (35-0 at half) and Samford this year (30-0 at half but easily should of been 38-0)
The weather will be perfect Saturday for a lot of points. The total is at 62 and 1 team is expected to score 90% of those points, so it‘ll get started early and often.
