Coach Scottie Montgomery announced that true freshman Holton Ahlers will get the start against UCF this week. Ahlers is a big, Tebow-eque dual-threat QB. He's a local kid that's seen some action already and is a fan favorite. He's not the passer that former starter Herring is but seems to have a presence on the field and with the fans.
Montgomery is trying to save his job here by using one of his best recruits to try and jump start the offense. The fans have been calling for the QB change for a few games now so they should be more energized at the game.
The Pirates will either get blown out in this game or win outright. I don't think that there's any in between. I would recommend staying away from this game until we see what Ahlers does as a starter or just sprinkle some beer money on the money line.
