You hear the talk constantly about specialization and this is a perfect example of how powerful it can be as I am 6-1-1 ATS picking West Virginia games this season. (betting on them as well as betting against them) Keep in mind though that doesn't mean anything is guaranteed so never risk more than you are prepared to lose.
For those asking this week I am on West Virginia +5 vs TCU. TCU brought in new offensive coordinators this off-season and switched to an up tempo spread offense which has been a major reason for their success. West Virginia will be a tough match-up for them though. Under new defensive coordinator Tony Gibson WVU plays a 3-3-5 stack defense similar to the one they used under head coach Rich Rodriguez and defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel who have both since moved on to Arizona. The 3-3-5 stack is effective at stopping up tempo spread offenses. Just look at what Arizona was able to do to Oregon the past two years (two upset wins) and also how West Virginia was able to shut down Baylor two weeks ago. Plus this is TCU's first year running the spread so they will probably struggle more than a typical spread team at adjusting to a 3-3-5 stack defense. Finally this will be a tough atmosphere for TCU considering ESPN College Gameday will be in Morgantown.
