An exceptionally good night last night, so let's just aim to avoid the regression.....at least for another day or two? FTR ~ Anyone laying more than a couple of units on any of this early season stuff has either too much money or too little sense, IMO.
Always keep in mind that my thoughts should be used only to bolster your own. Although you will almost certainly increase your 'roll by straight tailing...it IS NOT what I'd recommend. ALWAYS DO THE WORK!
San Diego Padres GM1 (+117) (List Stults/McAllister)~ Feeble Tribe bats facing LHP (.164 BA/.230 OBP) to this point. Both starters hit hard in their openers, so the Over 8 or nothing. I do prefer the Pads' TT which will likely be set at 4. Being a "nooner" and Cleveland not hitting lefties points to the Under, but I may take the leap. I do think that SD can get most of them. In his opener, McAllister had a real tough time with the lefties (5/12). He'll see a half dozen of 'em today. With LHP Erlin slated to start Game Two, I have parlayed the Padres' to sweep the doubleheader at +360. Considering a small Padres mini for the nightcap, as I am not sure how long he goes?
Oakland Athletics (-130) ~ I really did not want to go above -120 here, but I cannot find any reason to go the other way. Slight lean to the Under 8, but with Hughes dealing.....I'll pass. A brisk crosswind may lead to some misplayed balls and unearned runs. Note the seven LH/SH batters in the A's starting line-up. Inasmuch as I'd like to add the RL, +120 does not appeal to me here.
TB Rays/KC Royals Over 8½ (-110) ~ After the duel last night, I do expect some offense today.
Colorado Rockies Over 5½ (-110) ~ Young Johnson looked like he was throwing BP in his first start. I don't think he'll have much fun at Coors. I do not trust Nicasio to be near as good, so laying off the side. The Over 10 (-110) may be a good look, but after the recent onslaughts it may be best left alone? With the winning team scoring at least 8 in the first two, it may be a trap?
Wrigley looks to be setting up for an Over, but the number may be too high to play. We'll see? Expect Hammel to get a rude awakening and Wandy....well, he's just Wandy. Super-slick or not worth a shit.
Arizona Diamondbacks/SF Giants Over 7½ (+100) ~ Careful here as it does appear to be a trap. Just no chance I play an Under with these two starters. Even at his finest The Freak had trouble with these guys and Goldy owns him. After seeing these hitters a few more times, Bronson may wish he hadn't left the Central.
As much as I would like to back Miami in this spot, Hand can be wild at times and that just won't work here against Zimmerman.
Texas Rangers (+125) ½ unit ~ Getting this number with the Rangers throwing another LHP? Yep, the BoSox got a few hits off of Perez, but the game was already over. He really didn't pitch well, either. Ross has managed them well in limited exposure, but until I see the consistency against LHP that we know the Sox are capable of, I won't be backing them against any southpaw. Keeping it at a half just out of respect here. This one may be all on Peavy?
Houston Astros/Toronto Blue Jays ~ No real value in this one and I was actually hoping to find a Melky Cabrera homers in his 5th straight game prop, but no such luck.
Total Walks Allowed By Brandon Morrow;
Over 2½ (+145) ~ As good as Morrow can be, he often loses the zone. This one will be predicated more on the Astros' plate discipline, though.
Altuve vs Lawrie - most total bases
Jose Altuve (-120) ~ Perhaps my "can't find his ass with both hands" jibe works as well for Lawrie as it did for Braun? The slump-buster comes through again...LOL
Chicago Cubs (+105) Mini ~ Perhaps I am just so used to the Cubs' bullpen meltdowns that I am loathe to back them on a gameline? They already beat Wandy at PNC. The projected wind tonight at Wrigley should be hell on a LHP.
I do like the Bravos to rebound, but no chance of a play at that price.
Seattle Mariners (-101) ~ Richards got lucky last outing and despite walking 5 his offense exploded in Houston. He probably won't get away with it here. I'll keep sucking up these nice M's lines as long as the 'books keep hangin' 'em. The Cano Show? Already talked about how lame the BoSox had been facing lefties. How about that .264 Halos' OBP facing them? They have gone deep three times though, which the Sox have been unable to do yet.
