For what it’s worth yesterday was, to say the least, again less than stellar, I liked 6 teams. Three won and three lost. While I didn’t have the time to calculated exactly how I did, I can say it was a 3rd straight losing day.
My friend Padrick57 wrote in this post on Sunday that “I think this two-team MLB parlay thing has run its course this season. You won about 50 units the first two days of Sept, but since then you're down 10 units”.
I still can’t say for certain that he’s right, but I’m beginning to think that he might be, and I might be wrong. However, I’m doing it one more day and if it doesn’t work out again, I’ll stop betting MLB until the playoffs begin, because I’m just not willing to pay the inflated prices I’m seeing on good teams and I’m not willing to bet on bad teams just because there might be some value there.
Here my parlay card for tonight. Can I end the losing streak?

These are my reasons for taking these teams.
DET @ CLEV
Starting Pitchers
Zac Reininger v Adam Plutko
- The Indians are battling for a wild card spot
- Reininger is a reliever who has given up 23 runs on 35 hits and 15 walks in 24 innings. That’s hardly impressive.
- Plutko’s been decent with 9 good starts to 4 bad ones in 17 start.
- The Indians have the much better offense and bullpen.
- The Tigers stink.
PHIL @ ATL
Starting Pitchers
Vince Velasquz V Dallas Keuchel
This is a meaningless game. ATL is in, and realistically PHIL is out
- The Braves have the better offense
- Velasquez is as inconsistent as hell
Keuchel has now made 15 starts and 11 of them have been good, including his last 6, and just 3 have been poor. He given up a total of 4 runs in those last 6 starts. It looks like Keuchel is finally rounding into form, and just in time for the playoffs.
CHI WS @ MINN
This is a meaningless game. MINN is in and CHI has been pout for a while now.
- The Twins are the much better offensive team. They should outhit the White Sox.
- AS mediocre as Martin Perez has been, he’s still better than Ross Detwiler
CIN @ CHI Cubs
Starting Pitchers
Sonny Gray v Y Darvish
This is important to the Cubs because they only trail STL by 2 games in the NL Central and MIL is only 1 game behind them. However the Reds are out of it and have been for some time.
- The Cubs have the much better offense and should outhit the Reds
- On paper, Yu Darvish doesn’t look all that great. However, Darvish now has 6 good starts in his last 8 outings. Best of all, Darvish, who has had problems with his control and has walked 51 this season, has only walked 4 in tone last 7 starts, while striking 72. Darvish is finally healthy and pitching as well as the Cubs hoped he would when they signed him.
- The Cubs are great (51-24) at Wrigley
TEX @ HTN
Starting Pitchers
Lance Lynn v Justin Verlander
The Astros are in but still battling for home field. The Rangers are out.
- It’s Justin Verlander going fot the Astros. Enough said!
KC @ OAK
Starting Pitchers
Jorge Lopez v Brett Anderson
How the hell did the A’s blow that game last night. They cost me a winning night, and their AL wild card lead is down to 1 game over TB with CLEV just 2.5 out.
- The A’s really need this game. They can’t afford to f*uck this one up
- The A’s are the better hitting team
- The A’s have the better bullpen.
- Brett Anderson is better than Jorge Lopez
- The Royals stink. I doubt that they win two in a row
