Minnesota Twins @ New York Yankees
My Pick: Minnesota Twins/New York Yankees Over 9 (-120) - W
New York is 3-0 Over/Under their previous 3 matchups against Minnesota
New York is 7-5 Over/Under their previous 12 home matchups against the Twins
New York Recent Games
12-2-1 Over/Under their previous 15 games
9-2 Over/Under their previous 6 at home
6-1 Over/Under their previous 9 at home versus AL Central teams
Sonny Gray (New York Pitcher)
4-0-1 Over/Under his previous 5 games
6-2 Over/Under his previous 8 at home
Minnesota Recent Games
5-0 Over/Under their previous 5 games
7-0 Over/Under their previous 7 on the road
5-0 Over/Under their previous 5 on the road versus AL East teams
Lance Lynn (Minnesota Pitcher)
3-0 Over/Under his previous 3 on the road
Sonny Gray will be taking the mound for New York. He's allowed 3, 5 and 6 runs over his last 3 starts and he's been slightly worse when pitching at home this season. Gray has an 8.27 ERA overall and 7.71 at home. His WHIP has been 2.903+ over his previous 2 starts and although Minnesota is a bit weak against Righties, they do rank right around mid-pack in runs scored on the road this season. With this game being played in a hitter friendly Yankee Stadium I would think the Twins should manage to put up some runs..
On the other side it'll be Lance Lynn pitching for Minnesota. He's allowed exactly 5 runs in both of his road games this season with a 2.000+ WHIP in each. His away ERA is 9.00 which could mean trouble against the Yankees offense. New York is ranked #1 in runs scored off Righties this season (112), #1 in runs at home this season (96) and #1 in home runs at home this season (25). They've put up 5+ runs in each of their last five games with 8 and 14 coming against their previous 2 versus Minnesota. Berrios & Odorizzi both have better ERA's this season then Lynn does, and they couldn't stop the Yanks. I would think they should be able to take full advantage of Lynn here as well..
Both teams will get a bit of an easier matchup at pitcher tonight as opposed to Tuesday's game which was a Sabathia/Berrios matchup. With New York having 5 of their 8 projected starters sitting with .200+ ISO at home against Righties and Minnesota having 4 of their 8 projected starters sitting with .200+ ISO on the road against Righties I'll go with the Over.
