Sharp money has done pretty well for the season in college football, but that wasn’t the case last weekend. Here’s this week’s Wise Guy Wednesday report. Note that the indicated sides are not necessarily my plays. In fact, I’m definitely opposite one of the moves on this list. Info and comments are gathered from a variety of books in Nevada, as well as various stores around the country and offshore outlets.
311 East Carolina got some sharp early play, but the bulk of the PIRATES money the last couple days has been mostly public.
It’s not an avalanche but the wise guys are siding somewhat with 324 Penn State.
341 Virginia Tech is definitely taking pro dough. This is not a surprise as the sharps keep fading Duke. The public will be pounding the Blue Devils with both fists on game day. For anyone who thinks the sharps are infallible, Duke has been proof they aren’t.
364 Arkansas took early sharp money, but this has become an interesting betting pattern game. A couple of my sources said they’re now getting more public money on the Hogs, and some sharp buys on LSU each time they’ve bumped the number a half point.
A definite sharp side has been 370 Florida. The Gators drew late wise guy cash when they upset Georgia, and those syndicates are jumping on Florida again this week.
Nothing new here. Pros have been taking shots against Florida State all season, and they’re doing so again this week by backing 372 Miami Florida.
It’s mostly square action on 378 Notre Dame, but nothing sharp showing on the Northwestern side. In fact, while it hasn’t been large, whatever pro dough trickling in has also been Irish.
386 Idaho is attracting some attention from the sharps. Not a surprise as Troy has been a public fade much of the year, and the pros have willingly joined in on the fun in some weeks.
The biggest game on the board is drawing some significant sharp action, and it’s on the favorite. 396 Alabama is the side the smarts like, while most of the square cash has arrived on Mississippi State.
Finally, a bit of a sharp/square duel taking place so far, with underdog 401 North Texas getting the bulk of the wise guy play.
