Friday College Football San Diego State Aztecs vs New Mexico Lobos Free Pick

College football week 7 and the San Diego State Aztecs will travel to University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico to take on the New Mexico Lobos. The game has a start time of 9:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN U. Current Vegas odds have the Aztecs listed as 4 point favorites, while the total is set at 51.5.

Analysis: The San Diego State Aztecs come in with 2-3 record on the year, with both wins coming at three losses have been on the road. San Diego State is 2-3 ATS this year and all 5 of their games have gone under the total. The Aztecs are also 0-5 ATS in their last 5 visits to University Stadium, but they are also 5-1-1 ATS in the 2 nd of BB road games. RB Donnel Pumphrey is the star of this offense and has rushed for 561 yards and 9 TDs on the year. QB Quinn Kaehler has struggled under center for the Aztecs, throwing for just 861 yards with 2 TDs and 6 INTs so far this year.  Overall the Aztecs are a rather poor below offensive team, as they rank 95th overall, 101st in passing, 53rd in rushing and 95th in scoring (23.8 ypg). The defense for the Aztecs has been decent, as they rank 51st overall, 75th vs the pass, 41 st vs the un and 41 st in points allowed (21.4 ppg).

The lobos come in at 2-3 on the year as well, but they have done it opposite of San Diego State, as they are 0-3 at home but 2-0 on the road. They come in off a nice road 21-9 road win over UTSA In a game that they were 17 point dogs in. The Lobos are 15-2 ATS in the last 17 meetings with the Aztecs. The Lobos are led by Cole Gautsche, who has missed some time this year, but when in there he is a threat. Cole has run for 265 yards in 3 games this year at 11.5 ypc, and has 2 TDs as well. Overall this is not a great offense as they come in 70th overall, 127th in passing, 5th in rushing and 85th in scoring (26 ppg). The defense for the Lobos has some major issues, as they come in ranked 119th overall, 71st vs the pass, 126th vs the run and 97th in points allowed (33.6 ppg).

Pick: I will look to the Lobos in this one. Bob Davie is doing a solid job with this team and it really showed last week in their 21-9 road win over UTSA. The Lobos will be getting Cole Gautsche back for this one and I expect a big game from him in front of the national audience. The Lobos are 15-2 ATS the last 127 in the series and I expect them to continue that here. Outright win for the Lobos in this one.
