Saturday College Football Georgia State Panthers vs Washington Huskies Free Pick

Week 4 college football and the Georgia State Panthers will travel to the northwest to take on the Washington Huskies. The game has a start time of 6:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network. Current Vegas odds have the Huskies listed as 34.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 69.

Analysis:  The Georgia State panthers are off a miserable 0-12 season and this year they bring back just 9 starters from that team. The season has not started off well for this team as they are 1-2, but still they have already topped last year’s win total. Offensively the Panthers have been very good this year as they have averaged 523.7 ypg (22nd) overall including 373.7 ypg through the air (8 th), while putting up 35.7 ppg (52nd). QB Nick Arbuckle leads this explosive offense, having thrown for 1121 yards and 7 TDs, but he does make too many mistakes with 5 INTs on the year so far. Joel Ruiz is his favorite target and has caught 15 passes for 223 yards and 2 TDs on the year so far, while Lynquez Blair has also had 15 catches for 212 yards and 3 TDs. The offense is good but the defense is horrendous, as they come in ranked 114th in yards allowed (491 ypg) and 117th in points allowed (39.7 ppg).

The Washington Huskies are off a nice 9-4 season, which snapped a string of three 7-6 seasons in a row. Now Steve Sarkisian has departed and in steps Chris Petersen, who had a great run at Boise State. Steve has with 14 starters back and overall this team should be just as good as last year. The really got off to a sluggish start this year with a 1 point win over Hawaii and then and even more disturbing 7 point home win over FCS foe Eastern Washington. Last week the Huskies finally put it all together in a 44-19 win over Illinois. The Huskies really missed QB Cyler Miles in their opener vs Hawaii. In the last 2 games with him back the Huskies have put up 103 points and Cyler has thrown for 373 yards and 2 TDs, while also rushing for 113 yards and 3 TDs in those games. Cyler should have a field day vs this defense. Overall the Huskies are ranked 56th in total offense (445.3 ypg), 24th in rushing (258.3 ypg) and 34th in scoring (40 ppg). The defense for this team has been bad as they rank102 nd in total defense (449.3 ypg), 119th vs the pass (320.3 ypg) and 90th in points allowed (29 ppg).

Pick: I like the Over in this one. This has the feel of that game that Washington played vs Western Washington. Their offense should easily hit the upper 40 and maybe even the 50’s in this one, especially vs this Panther defense that has just been horrid in the early going. The Panther offense has been explosive this year and the Husky defense is one of the worst in the nation vs the pass. Both offenses should have a field day in this one.
