When it comes to the Hall of Fame - both baseball and football - there's a certain hypocrisy level in keeping worthy candidates out.
Cap Anson (baseball) and George Preston Marshall (football) were extreme racists who did all they could to prevent men of color from playing in the big leagues. Yet they're in their respective Hall of Fames.
Ty Cobb is a celebrated Hall of Famer, yet there are stories he committed murder and may have fixed games.
Pete Rose is a Hall of Famer. If he would have admitted and apologized for his gambling like Paul Hornung did, most likely he would have been enshrined.
Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens are all-time greats with or without steroids. They should be in, too, and one day probably will be.
Terrell Owens wasn't a druggie (as far as I know), gambler or cheater. He had the talent and numbers to be in the Hall of Fame. Why should he have to wait? Wearing out your welcome with multiple teams shouldn't keep him out when he's one of the greats at his position.
And this is coming from someone who didn't like Owens and absolutely despises Bonds and hates him more than any player in the history of baseball.
