Let's talk DFS - Daily Fantasy Sports.
Just type in the promo code: Screwed.
Being a Las Vegas resident I had my membership in Draft Kings terminated and my money promptly returned to me following Nevada's ruling that Draft Kings is not legal in the state until receiving a license.
Draft Kings isn't going to bother trying to get a license in Nevada. They apparently want to stay unregulated. So no daily fantasy. I'll survive.
I have my own Las Vegas fantasy football leagues that have been going on for close to 30 years with a far more skill set such as acquiring 27 players via an auction with nine different categories, including individual tackles and sacks.
I've done well in my fantasy football leagues. I didn't do well during my limited participation in Draft Kings. I gave up on playing head-to-head matchups after losing the first five times. I put out good lineups, scored good points. But didn't win.
Then I found out I probably was going against individuals who had played thousands of head-to-head games running sophisticated software to come up with their lineups while I was just spending a few minutes tinkering.
I've also read where only around two percent make money on DFS sites. I don't think it's debatable that the recreational player has no chance of coming out ahead in the long run.
If Draft Kings and Fan Duel want to succeed they need to keep the sharks in their own tanks, limit entries to a reasonable number and dial way back on their obnoxious ads that have become a pox on anyone watching or listening to sports.
These companies also should be more honest. They never should have let their employees play at competing sites. They also shouldn't make out how easy it is to win millions. The chances of finding the perfect lineup to beat out millions of other contestants is the same as hitting the lottery. No different.
On the handicapping front, I had my most disappointing NFL loss of the season last night with the over in the Giants-Eagles game. That was a Triple Star and my highest rated Monday night game of the year. I'm looking to recover some of my lost bankroll with two plays today, one in baseball the other in hockey. I have won five of my last seven MLB plays and am cashing 67 percent so far this hockey season in limited action. My plays and packages can be found here: /pregamepros/pro-bettor/bettor.aspx?id=7746#capper.
As always, let's have no bad luck.
