Major League Baseball will take center stage again on Thursday night as the World Series Game 2 takes place tonight. The World Series Game 2 start time is set for an 8:00 pm start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Tigers favored.

The San Fransisco Giants took a huge step forward to gaining their second World Series crown in just a few seasons on Wednesday night with an 8-3 win over the Tigers. Detroit had Justin Verlander on the mound and he was beat up pretty good. Pablo Sandoval obviously had the big night on Wednesday, tying a World Series record with three home runs in the contest. It just goes to show you how important the post season can be. Sandoval hit only 12 home runs in 396 plate appearances during the regular season, seven of which came at home.

Tonight, the Tigers turn to Doug Fister, who has been very solid the second half of the season and the playoffs. Fister has a 1.35 ERA so far this post season in a little over 12 innings of work, including 6 2/3 scoreless innings in a no decision over the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series. He's in a perfect spot for the Tigers tonight as they will look to rebound from a Game 1 loss not many predicted would happen. Fister has only pitched against Marco Scutaro for the Giants, who had one hit in 10 plate appearances against him. That has to benefit the Tigers pitcher in this game tonight.

Huge emotional win for the Giants in last night's game. They were coming off winning several must-win games between the ALDS over Cincinnati and crawled out of a 3-1 hole with St. Louis. Now they seem to be treating every single game as a must-win game. Hey, whatever works. Bruce Bochy's club took advantage of key opportunities last night with huge at bats from both Sandoval and Scutaro. Tonight they'll both look to propel the Giants to a massive 2-0 lead heading back to Detroit.

However, we don't see that happening. Typically, in games following a major emotional win at home in a post season game like Wednesday nights, we see a bit of a letdown. We fully expect the Giants to lay an egg tonight. Madison Bumgarner gets to toe the slab tonight for San Fransisco and at one point this season he was a dominant starter, especially at home. But since then he has hit the bricks and struggled mightily.

Bumgarner hasn't been able to get anybody out in the post season, both of his starts came at home. He has given up 10 earned runs in only eight innings of work so far this post season and had scattered 15 hits, three of which were home runs. We expect him to get hit up tonight and struggle against a Tigers team that will be looking to steal one here tonight. They lost with Verlander last night and many though Detroit would split in the opening two games. However, a magical night by Sandoval led to the Giants taking the opening game.

If Detroit gets back to the Motor City with a 1-1 series split, they will be sitting in a very nice position to potentially win the series, or at least pick up a few wins. Tonight they'll take the first step in that, evening the series after beating up on Bumgarner and getting a solid outing from Fister.
