World Series Detroit Tigers at San Francisco Giants Game 2: Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Hi-res-154429500_crop_650x440

Game 2 of the World Series takes place on Thursday night and we will see the Detroit Tigers travel to the west coast to take on the San Francisco Giants. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 (ET) pm start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the ODDS have Detroit favored at -124, while San Francisco is dogs of +114. The total for the game sits at 7 runs. Free Analysis: The Detroit Tigers sent out their ace for game one of the World Series and were sent home with a loss as they let it get away from them early and were never able to recover. Austin Jackson and Delmon Young had two hits each, Jhonny Peralta had a home run, and Price Fielder and Miguel Cabrera each had hits but it wasn’t nearly enough as they scored three runs on eight hits in all. Doug Fister gets the ball for the Tigers tonight and he has pitched very will in this postseason with a 1.,35 ERA, but has yet to receive a decision. Fister has not pitched since scattering six hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings against the Yankees in the opener of the ALCS on Oct. 13. The 28-year-old settled for a no-decision, as he did versus the Oakland Athletics in Game Two of the AL Division Series, when he yielded two runs and six hits in seven frames. Fister, who went 4-7 in 13 road starts during the regular season, will be facing San Francisco for the first time in his career. In 4 carer post season starts Doug has a 2-0 record and a 1.75 ERA. The Tigers really have their backs to the wall as the winner of game one has gone on to with the world series in 8 of the last 9 years.

The San Francisco Giants jumped all over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday and never took their foot off the gas it they delivered a beating in an attempt to send a message. Pablo Sandoval joined all-time greats Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson, and Albert Pujols as the only players to ever hit three home runs in one World Series game. National League Championship Series MVP Marco Scutaro continued his torrid pace, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. After going 0-for-8 over his first two playoff games, Scutaro has hit safely in each of his last 11 contests and collected two or more hits in seven of his last eight. For tonight’s game San Francisco starts Madison Bumgarner who has lost both of his post season starts this year. Bumgarner has been inactive nearly as long as Fister, last pitching in the opener of the NLCS against St. Louis on Oct. 14, when he was tagged for six runs and eight hits in just 3 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old also did not fare well versus Cincinnati in the NLDS as he surrendered four runs over 4 1/3 frames in a Game Two loss. Bumgarner, who went 10-3 in 15 starts at home in the regular season, did not figure in the decision in his only career start against the Tigers on July 1, 2011 despite allowing only one run in 7 1/3 innings at Detroit. San Francisco's starting pitchers have allowed a total of two runs over 26 innings in the club's last four games.

Free Pick: Well Im gonna stay away from the side in this one. I had gone against the Giants the last 4 games and they have burned me. I think this game will be a high scoring one. Madison Bumgarner has not pitched well in the post season with an 11.25 ERA in 2 starts and I expect Detroit to tag him for a few before the Giants can get to their solid bull pen. On the oth other side we have a giants squad that is hot offensively as they have score 5+ runs in each of their last 4 games. The will be facing Doug Fister, who has been solid in the post season but he did have a 3.43 ERA on the road with 8.4 rpg being scored in his road games this year. The Giant offense is just on fire right now and will score some in this one, while the desperate Tigers will put up a more than a few on Bumgarner. This one could hit DD again.
