The Wisconsin Badgers have played in three straight Rose Bowls and they'll have their work cut out for them if they are going to make it a fourth. The 2013 College Football Predictions have Wisconsin listed at 70/1 odds to win the BCS Title game. That's certainly a long shot and they are one of the middle of the pack teams in the Big Ten Conference.
Wisconsin has a few layups to open the season with Massachusetts and Tennessee Tech before a road game at Arizona State, who should be an improved team from one year ago. They don't have to play Michigan or Michigan State but they will travel to Columbus this year.
Bret Bielema skipped town and headed south to Arkansas. That certainly doesn't speak well of the Big Ten Conference — the coach of a team that played in three straight Rose Bowls bolts for a mid-level SEC gig. But the Badgers turned to Gary Anderson, the guy who helped Utah State have an amazing 2012 campaign and end the year ranked in the Top 25 polls.
Montee Ball also left town, but headed to the NFL, where he's now on the Denver Broncos. But have no fear, the Badgers still have a very good tailback in James White, who ran for better than 800 yards and had 12 touchdowns last season. He carried the ball 126 times last season but expect that to rise, even with Anderson's different system.
The Badgers will be breaking in eight new starters this year. But at quarterback the starter will be one of two guys that started last season — Curt Phillips or Joel Stave. It's hard to believe that either of them will lead Wisconsin to a fourth straight Rose Bowl.
