Total: 132 points
In a battle of two teams that could make some noise in the NCAA Tournament, this West Coast Conference finals should be a great matchup. Both teams play excellent defense and can be efficient with the basketball on offense.
Gonzaga is the only team in the country that has a Top 10 offense and defense, according to efficiency numbers. That, along with a 31-1 record to date, should earn them a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and probably the top seed out west. Mark Few’s team struggled a bit in the win last night over Santa Clara, but they were able to find a way to win. Saint Mary’s drilled BYU last night, holding the Cougars to only 50 points and 31 percent shooting.
This is the 20th consecutive time Gonzaga is playing in the WCC finals. That’s impressive in itself, but also take into account the Zags have already beaten Saint Mary’s twice this season so their confidence level should be high.
Nigel Williams-Goss and Przemek Karnowski could be the difference here. They both can get good looks and Jordan Mathews knocking down triples will propel the Zags to the win.
