The UFC returns to Fox Sports 1 tonight for a rematch between welterweight contenders Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann. This evening's UFC Fight Night card will take place at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana; it has a scheduled start time of 8:00pm ET. Condit vs Kampmann 2 Fight Predictions and Odds have Condit listed as a -260 moneyline favorite ($260 wins $100) while Kampmann, who won the first meeting via split decision, is drawing +200 odds ($100 wins $200).
It would seem Carlos Condit has less momentum coming into this fight having lost his last two battles in the Octagon; however, Condit's previous two fights came against welterweight champion Georges St.Pierre and top contender Johny Hendricks.
Prior to facing the champion, Condit, who went the distance with both St.Pierre and Hendricks, had reeled off five consecutive wins. That run began after a split decision loss to Kampmann in April of 2009.
In the first meeting between these two fighters Condit scored a significant striking advantage, landing 71 shots to Kampmann's 52. He also landed more significant strikes, connecting on 35 while Kampmann produced 26. The Hitman was a perfect five for five in takedown attempts, but Condit was not far behind, hitting three of the four he attempted.
While forever marked as a loss on Condit's resume, it is not a stretch to say the New Mexico native won his first scrap with Kampmann and the fight totals only bolster that argument.
Kampmann is an extremely tough and well rounded fighter, but Condit has the more polished game and the stronger jaw. While Kampmann has produced a 3-1 record in his last four fights, he is clearly more susceptible to the knockout at this point in his career.
Kampmann lost by first round knockout to Johny Hendricks in his last fight and he miraculously survived a meeting with Jake Ellenberger prior to facing Hendricks. Ellenberger had Kampmann all but finished in the first round, but The Hitman somehow weathered the storm and scored a knockout of his own in the second frame.
Fight Predictions: Condit -260. Kampmann is a live dog, but Condit should have won the first fight and he exacts revenge tonight.
