Two of the final four spots in the UEFA Euro 2012 Quarterfinals have already been set with Germany and Portugal advancing to the semi finals. The third country in that group will be determined on Saturday afternoon as Spain takes on France in a battle of powerhouse programs. The UEFA Euro 2012 Quarterfinals for Saturday has a start time of 2:30 p.m. EST and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The UEFA Euro 2012 Quarterfinals odds for the match currently have Spain favored at -140 to advance to the semifinals.

France could have avoided this big matchup by playing a lot better against Sweden. In fact, had the French actually beaten Sweden they wouldn't be in this position at all. Yet, they finished with a 1-1-1 record overall and had a goal differential of zero, scoring just as many goals as their opposition in three games. And yet, there is still something to be said about them being alive in the tournament and taking on the overall European favorite in Spain. The -140 (Risk $140 to pay back $100) odds for this matchup favoring Spain is for regulation time, meaning the Spanish have to hold the lead after 90 minutes and stoppage time. The odds on France winning in regulation time and stoppage time combined is +410 (Risk $100 to bring back $410), implying they have just a 19.61 percent chance to win the matchup in regulation time. There is also a draw option that can be bet for this contest, which is currently sitting at +200 (Risk $100 to bring back $200). The draw option has a 33.33 percent to occur in this matchup.

Spain rolled up seven points in Group C, which they won overall with a 2-1-0 record. They have outscored opponents by five tallies so far in the tournament and are considered to be the most complete, best overall team left. While both Italy and Germany are getting a lot of bets and press about being teas that can win the EURO cup, most believe Spain has the team to beat. Franck Ribery and Samir Nasri both are dangerous on the front line for France and Spain is well aware of their prowess. Fernando Torres or David Silva will have to come up big for Spain, as customary at this stage in the tournament. Silva is almost like Steve Nash out there on the pitch, facilitating when he needs to but also holding the keys to be one of the best strikers as well. He's had a goal and three assists so far in the tournament.

Spain should win this matchup, being the far inferior squad and a team that appears to be playing very well. Sure, they aren't the same explosive team that won the Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup, but they have a great, sound team that should be able to beat France in regulation time. The -140 odds are tough to lay in the tournament, especially at this stage, but overall they seem to be the best betting option. We think they win 2-1.
