CFB on Saturday night and we will see the Tulane Green Wave visit the UL Monroe Warhawks. The start time is 7:00 pm Eastern) and the game will be televised on ESPN3. Current Odds have UL Monroe listed as 14 point favorites, while the total sits at 56.5.
Analysis: Tulane has started the year with a 2-2 record, alternating wins and losses along the way. Last week the Green wave invaded the Carrier Dome and were routed in the game 52-17. In that game the Green Wave finished with 330 yards and are now averaging 343 yards per game. Nick Montana is the man under center for the Green Wave and he has completed 57.9 percent of his pass attempts, with 919 yards and eight touchdown passes, but his OL needs to do a better job as he has been sacked 14 times already this year. Ryan Grant, who has 31 receptions, 418 yards and three touchdowns this season, is his favorite target, while the workhorse in the backfield is Orleans Darkwa, who has 185 on 52 carries so far. On defense the squad is ranked fourth in Conference USA overall (378.8 ypg), while the team is tied for second in the league in turnover margin (+3) thanks to the 11 forced turnovers. Last year the Warhawks rolled to a 63-10 victory in Tulane's home stadium. Tulane still leads the short lived all-time series, 2-1.
UL Monroe also comes in with a 2-2 mark, after getting blasted last week by Baylor 70-7. The Warhawks have now face two Big 12 teams and have been outscored 104-7 in the two games. Tonight they look to get back on track vs a much weaker team. Even with those two contests in the mix, the Warhawks are averaging 364 yards and 19 points per game. Turnovers certainly haven't helped the Warhawks, coughing the ball up 10 times already. Kolton Browning has been one of the most guilty parties in that regard, as he has been intercepted six times already, while completing just 53.8 percent of his pass attempts. Just not the same QB that put up huge numbers last year. The Warhawks' defensive production has been skewed badly by the losses to Baylor and Oklahoma. ULM is currently ranked second to last in the Sun Belt in total defense (443 ypg) and sixth in scoring defense (33.3 ppg).
