The North Carolina Tar Heels are on the road in college football action on Thursday, taking on the Pittsburgh Panthers. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Tar Heels favored to pick up the victory on the road.

Both Carolina and Pitt enter this game unbeaten in ACC play, this contest will obviously have a huge impact on the Coastal Division of the conference. Pitt is the only team at 4-0 in the league (Clemson is 4-0 in the Atlantic), Carolina is tied with Duke with 3-0 records themselves.

Pitt’s only loss on the year came at Iowa by a field goal early in the season. That field goal was a booming 57-yarder as time expired, since then the Panthers have won four straight close games where they were behind. Pitt has proven during that stretch to be a very good team as three of those victories came on the road.

Pat Narduzzi’s squad is tough, they play defense and they are winning despite losing one of the best running backs in the country, James Conner. The next guy in line, Qadree Ollison, has had a big year averaging 5.6 yards per carry while scoring seven touchdowns. UNC will have to find a way to slow that Pitt running attack down.

Carolina has a great offense, Marquise Williams has pitched it around this season pretty well, but he does have an interception problem.

Williams is a dual-threat guy and can hurt opposing teams with his feet as well. Combine that with the solid running of Elijah Hood and Carolina has a tough offense to corral. The Tar Heels have a Top 25 offense and they are favored in this one on the road. Carolina is on a roll and they are scoring a ton of points, a win here will showcase them as a real threat in the ACC.
