Phil Mickelson picked up the Open Championship last year. He'll look to defend his crown in this tournament, which begins Thursday morning. The Open Championship Start Time is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. (EST) start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN.
This will be the 12th time Royal Liverpool has hosted the Open Championship and the first time since 2006. That year, Tiger Woods shot 18-under par and bested fellow American Chris DiMarco by a couple of shots. Ernis Els, Jim Furyk and Sergio Garcia all played well in that tournament as well.
Several former champions will be taking to the course this weekend including Woods, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo, Els and Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson and Woods are both considered to be "long shots" in this tournament, as seen here in our Open Championship Odds post.
Woods has obviously had a tough couple of years, but never did we imagine him being an 18/1 underdog at any major. But with the links-style course set up at Royal Liverpool, anybody that keeps the ball in the fairway and putts well will have a legitimate shot.
Adam Scott, the world's No. 1 player, could lose his crown in this tournament. The Golf Channel and ESPN reported earlier this week that Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Bubba Watson and Jason Day all, in theory, have a mathematical chance to surpass Scott as the world' No. 1 player if they were able to win the Open title this weekend.
Below are the complete First Round Tee Times courtesy of TheOpen.com. They feature the times from England, with the EST listed below those times in the below chart.
