Pro Football Betting Odds New England Patriots vs San Diego Chargers Free Pick

Sunday night football and the New England Patriots will travel to Qualcomm Stadium to take on the San Diego Chargers. The game has a start time of 8:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on NBC. Current Vegas odds have New England listed as 4 point favorites, while the total is set at 52.

Analysis: The New England were rolling right along until they had a hard fought 26-21 loss at Green Bay last week. Still they are 9-3 on the year and in first place in the AFC East by 2 games over both the Bills and Dolphins. New England is 6-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 51 games following a S.U. loss, but just 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games. The Pats again have one of the best offenses in the league, ranking 6th in total yards, 7th in passing, 16th in rushing and 3rd in scoring (31.5 ppg). The defense for New England has been pretty average this year, ranking 19th in yards allowed, 22nd vs the pass, 13th vs the run and 13th in points allowed (21.1 ppg).

The San Diego Chargers have not looked all that impressive this year, but they do come in on a 3 game winning streak and have closed the game in the AFC West to just 1 game behind the Denver Broncos. The Chargers are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games in Week 14 and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win, but just 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The San Diego offense has been very average this year, ranking 16th in total yards, 11th in passing, 28th in rushing and 14th in scoring (23.2 ppg). The defense for the Bolts has been decent this year, ranking 8th in total yards allowed, 7th vs the pass, 14th vs the run and 12th in points allowed (20.8 ppg).

Pick: Going to look at the Over here. This is a Sunday night game and many of them have been shootouts, so why not this one. The Chargers offense seems to be waking up again and will continue to do so as they get healthier. The Bolts have scored 61 points in their last 2 games and have averaged a solid 25.7 ppg at home for the year, while the Pats have allowed 24.8 ppg on the road. The New England offense has been on fire the last 8 weeks, putting up 37.3 ppg over that stretch and they will take on a tiring San Diego defense that has allowed 27 ppg in their last 5 games. The field may be a bit soggy here, but still these offenses should put on a show in the warmer California air and give us a game that may very well land in the 60s.
