Sunday Night Baseball Betting Odds Texas Rangers vs New York Yankees Free Pick

Sunday night baseball and I will have a Free Pick in the game between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees, which will be played at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx. First pitch is scheduled for a 8:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Betting Odds

Rangers               +120
Yankees               -130

Over/ Under: 8.5 O -125

This is game 3 of a 3 game series between these American League foes. The Rangers offense has exploded the last tow games have they have scored 25 runs over that span, while taking the first two in this series. The Rangers have now won 4 games in a row, with all 4 being on the road. Texas is now 14-10 on the road. The Yankees are in free fall mode right now as they come in having won just 2 of their last 11 games. Still they are just 1.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East

Texas ranks 9th in scoring (4.44 rpg), 22nd in hitting (.243) and 9th in homers (45), while on the mound they are 24th in ERA (4.21) and 26th in WHIP (1.36). The Rangers have gone 15-3 in their last 18 road games vs. a team with a winning record and 9-4 in their last 13 games as a road underdog of +110 to +150, but just 1-5 in Gallardo's last 6 starts after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

The Yankees rank 8th in scoring (4.47 rpg), 20th in hitting (.244) and 4th in homers (52), while on the mound they are 16th in ERA (4.01) and 11th in WHIP (1.26). The Yanks have gone 50-20 in their last 70 games after losing the first 2 games of a series, but just 1-5 in their last 6 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game and 0-8 in their last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter.

Getting the ball for Texas tonight will be Yovani Gallardo, who is 3-6 with a 4.26 ERA in 9 starts this year, while on the road he is 1-4 with a 4.97 ERA in 5 starts. Gallardo has faced the Yanks once is his career and his is 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA in that start.

Getting the ball for the Yankees tonight will be Chris Capuano, who has just 1 starts on the year and he is 0-1 with a 12.00 ERA in that start. Chris is 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA in 11 games (9 starts) in this park in his career and he is 0-1 with a 10.57 ERA in 4 appearances (1 start) vs the Rangers.

Pick: Let's look at the over in this game. Theses two teams have put up 19 runs in each of the first 2 games of this series and i don't expect the offenses to stop tonight. Chris Capuano get the start for the Yanks and he was hit hard in his lone start this year, allowing 4 ERs in just 3 innings of work. Chris has a lifetime 4.32 ERA as a starter and he has a 5.06 ERA in 11 games (9 starts) in this park. Gallardo gets the not for the Rangers and he comes in with a 4.97 ERA on the road and a 4.67 ERA in his last 3 starts. Behind these starters are a couple of pens that are also struggling as the Rangers have a bullpen ERA of 4.55 in their last 10 games, while the Yanks pen ERA is 6.55 over the same stretch. The Rangers have averaged 5.70 rpg in their last 10 games, while the Yanks have averaged 4.72 rpg at home for the year. This one shapes up as another slugfest.

MovieSell the New York Mets--Most Overrated Team in MLB?
Professional handicapper Teddy Covers talks about why the sharps in Vegas are turning on the MLB's New York Mets even though their performance so far this 2015 season seems to indicate they aren't that bad. Teddy points out that even with "stud" players like Matt Harvey and Jon Nies are clouding where the Mets are underperforming--the slash line (team batting average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage). Pro bettor Steve Fezzik agrees that he is not keen on the Mets and compares the quality of their batters to that of sitcom star and Mets fan Kevin James. So, while the odds may be in their favor, Vegas says these guys are a team to bet against.
