Sunday Baseball Cincinnati Reds vs San Francisco Giants Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Sunday baseball and we will see the Cincinnati Reds take on the San Francisco Giants in game 4 of their 4 game series from AT&T Park in San Francisco. First pitch is scheduled for an 4:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on MLB Network.

Current Odds

Cincinnati            +108
San Francisco      -118

Over/ Under: 7 Even

Analysis: The Cincinnati Reds are surging a bit as they come in having won 7 of their last 8 and 13 of their last 17. The Reds are 42-38 on the year, but still 7.5 games behind the Brewers in the NL Central. The Reds offense comes in 21st in the league in scoring (3.99 rpg), while also ranking 19th in hitting (.247) and 16th in homers (70). The Pitching for the Reds has been decent, as they come in ranked 10th in ERA (3.56) and 7th in WHIP (1.22). Getting ball for the Reds today Homer Bailey, who is 7-4 with a 4.80 ERA overall, while on the road he is 2-3 with a 5.47 ERA. Homer is 3-0 with a 4.30 ERA in 7 career starts vs the Giants.

The San Francisco Giants had baseball's best record for most of the early part of the season, but going just 4-14 in their last 18 games has taken that away. Due to their recent slide and the hot play of the Dodgers, the Giants lead in the NL West has shrunk to just 1 game over LA. The offense for the Giants has been average at best, as they come in ranked 15th in runs scored (4.10 rpg), 18th in hitting (.248) and 10th in homers (77). The Pitching has not been average, as they come in ranked 8th in ERA (3.45) and 2nd in WHIP (1.18). Getting the ball for the Giants will be Tim Hudson, who has struggled in his last 2 starts (9.58 ERA), but is still 7-4 with a 2.62 ERA on the year overall, while at home he is 5-1 with a 2.59 ERA. Tim is 5-1 with a 3.20 ERA in 8 career starts vs the Reds.

Pick: Going with the Over in this one. The Reds offense has been on fire of late, putting up nearly 6 rpg in their last 12 games and they should continue that hot hitting vs Tim Hudson, who has a 9.58 ERA in his last 2 starts. The Giants offense has been nothing special of late, but they should have good success vs Homer Bailey, who has struggled on the road this year with a 5.47 ERA, plus he has a 4.30 ERA in his career vs the Giants, despite the fact that he has a 3-0 record vs them. At the very least we should get a push here as I see both teams getting at least 3 runs each.
