Social Inclusion Preakness Stakes Odds & Preveiw

The 139th Preakness Stakes takes place Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. ThePreakness Stakes official start time is 6:20 pm ET. There are several Contenders in the event, including Social inclusion, who has been installed as 6/1 Odds to win the Preakness Stakes.

Social Inclusion Record: 2-0-1 in 3 Races. Trainer: Manuel Azpurua Jockey: Luis Contreras Sire: Pioneerof The Nile Dam: Saint Bernadette  Best Beyer Speed: 110

3 races and two of them were first place finishes for Social Inclusion, while his other race was a 3rd place finish. Social Inclusions really emerged as a contender with his showing at Gulfstream park, back in March, in which he won the race by 10 lengths, while posting a Beyer speed of 110. That Beyer speed is the best career speed of any horse in the Preakness. He is a son of 2009 Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof the Nile, who ran 11th of 13 in the 134th Preakness.

Riding Social Inclusion will be Luis Contreras, who is the two-time winner of the Sovereign Award as Canada’s top jockey in 2011 and 2012.   In 2009-10, Contreras won the riding title at Sunland Park. On July 1, 2013, he picked up his 1,000th career victory with Ifimlyinimdyin at his regular base at Woodbine Racetrack in Ontario.  In 2011, Contreras became the first jockey to win all three legs of the Canadian Triple Crown, while also setting career highs with 220 wins and $12.3 million in purse earnings that year.

Manuel Azpurua is the trainer of Social inclusion and he comes in the winner of more than 3,500 races in his native Venezuela, but the 85-year-old Azpura has never run a horse in the Preakness. Last year, he won the Grade 3 Azalea at Calder with Wildcat Lily, who went on to run second in both the Grade 1 Test and Grade 1 Prioress. This year, he captured the Grade 3 Appleton with Hey Leroy on the Florida Derby undercard at Gulfstream.

It wouldn't be surprising at all to see Social Inclusion come out fast early and his early speed and outside post position could give him a nice clean trip. The question is, how will he fare down the stretch?
