SEC Football Texas A&M Aggies at Mississippi State Bulldogs Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Mississippi State Following Familiar Playbook into Unfamiliar Territory

A battle of highly-ranked teams from the SEC hit the field Saturday when the sixth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies travel to play the 12th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Bulldogs favored to pull the upset in this one.

There are a couple of big games in the SEC this week, with one of those contests taking place between these two squads. There are three matchups between ranked SEC teams on this college football Saturday with third-ranked Alabama taking on 11-th ranked Ole Miss and the No. 15 LSU Tigers battling with fifth-ranked Auburn.

There should be some points scored in this one. Texas A&M comes into the game with a record of 5-0 and averaging better than 51 points per game. Mississippi State comes into the contest 4-0 with Dan Mullen's group averaging better than 41 points per game themselves. But when they each take the field on Saturday, will the points be as easy to get?

Mississippi State has a very fast defense and for three and a half quarters shut LSU down last week. They're allowing opponents to score only 16.5 points per game this season, which ranks 17th best in the country.

Texas A&M boasts a pretty solid defense as well — they allow opponents to score just 15 points per game, but have given up 28 in each of their SEC games, which were wins over South Carolina and Arkansas.

Here's a stat that might be a bit overblown: Mississippi State hasn't beaten Texas A&M during the regular season since the 1915 season. Granted, they haven't played every year but that's certainly a lengthy amount of time.

Aggie QB Kenny Hill had a big second half last week, tossing for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter and overtime combined. He'll look to bring that momentum into this contest. Mississippi State will probably look to run the football as the Aggies gave up 285 yards to the Hogs last week on the ground. The Bulldogs ran for 302 last week against LSU, so expected them to keep it on the ground.

Because Mississippi State is at home, they get the edge in this one.
