The Georgia Bulldogs are on the road to begin SEC Football play on Saturday, taking on the Vanderbilt Commodores. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Bulldogs listed as a comfortable favorite to pick up the win on the road.
Georgia’s opener was halted early because of severe weather. All it did was keep the score somewhat respectable as the Bulldogs were pushing around Louisiana-Monroe in a bad way, 51-14. Nick Chubb was awesome to start, rushing for 120 yards and two scores. Keith Marshall added a pair of rushing touchdowns as well as the Bulldogs looked solid. Greyson Lambert, the Virginia transfer, also seemed to be comfortable in the Bulldog offense, tossing for 141 yards and two touchdowns on 12 attempts. The offense worked out just fine against the Warhawks, but now Georgia has to change its frame of mind into conference play.
Vanderbilt isn’t a power and the Bulldogs should have no problems in this one, but they can’t get caught looking ahead to South Carolina next week either. The Commodores lost at home last week to Western Kentucky, needing a score late to come within a 2-point conversion of forcing overtime. They failed on that attempt and the Hilltoppers picked up a big win on the road, even if it was only Vanderbilt.
Georgia has won 45 of the 51 career meetings in this series, but Vanderbilt won in 2013 over the Bulldogs. The Commodores only play Austin Peay next week, can Georgia remain focused enough not to pay attention to the Gamecocks next week?
If the Bulldogs run the football Vanderbilt won’t be able to stop them. The three-score spread certainly would be tough for Georgia, but how much will Vanderbilt actually score in this one?
