This has the appearance as the best game of the day in college football. Both Florida and Tennessee are 3-0 on the young season and are battling for a spot in the SEC title game later this year.
Florida owns 11 consecutive wins over Tennessee in the series, and in the past handful of seasons the Volunteers were supposed to have a team good enough to end the skid. This year, though, might be the best shot of them all.
Joshua Hobbs and Jalen Herd give the Vols an excellent combination coming out of the backfield, but they will be tested by the top-ranked Florida defense. The Gators have given up just under 130 yards per game this season to opponents and have piled up 16 sacks to date, which could be a problem as Tennessee’s offensive line needs some work.
The Vols need to focus on the game at hand and not the 11-game losing streak to Florida. But with one of the best defenses in the country, Florida should be able to hang around in this one. Austin Appleby gets the start at QB for the Gators and needs to avoid turnovers to keep his team around.
