SEC College Football Auburn Tigers at LSU Tigers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

A Top 25 matchup in SEC Football takes place between the LSU Tigers and Auburn Tigers in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have LSU favored to pick up the victory at home.

Auburn clearly got caught looking ahead to this game last week. The Tigers struggled all game long against Jacksonville State and had to find a way in overtime to avoid even further embarrassment. Heading to overtime with a team you’re paying a ton of money to play in the non-conference early season has made Auburn look bad as they played down to their competition. Now they have to find a way to regroup, even after winning, as they’ve been labeled as not nearly as good as their pre-season accolades.

LSU has only played one game so far because of weather, but Leonard Fournette has already looked like a Heisman contender. The big back put up 159 yards on 28 carries against Mississippi State last week, scoring three touchdowns on the ground. LSU ran the football exceptionally well in that victory as a team, averaging 5.7 yards per carry and 266 yards total on the ground. QB Brandon Harris threw for only 71 yards but didn’t have to carry the offense because of the solid ground game. Auburn’s defense has a tough task of stopping the run, or at least slowing it down, as they gave up 238 to Louisville and 161 more to Jacksonville State last week. If LSU is able to establish a big advantage on the line of scrimmage, the Tigers will have a big game as Fournette will not be stopped.

Auburn QB Jeremy Johnson can’t turn the football over, either. He’s thrown five picks in the first two games and Auburn is damn lucky to be 2-0 on the season despite being -3 in turnover differential.

LSU has the advantage of playing at home in this series as Auburn hasn’t won in Baton Rouge since the 1999 season. Auburn has gone 0-7 in that time, losing those games by an average of more than two touchdowns.

The Tigers looked very solid defensively last week against Mississippi State, but held on late to pick up the two-point win. LSU will look to cause havoc for Johnson and the Auburn offense, they’ll move to 2-0 with a win in this one. Auburn can keep it close, but it’s going to be tough with as much as they’ve turned it over. Hard to back that offense right now.
