The Texas Longhorns head to Lawrence, Kansas this weekend as they look register their third conference win of the season. Start time in tomorrow’s Big 12 clash between the Longhorns and Jayhawks is scheduled for 12:00pm ET at Memorial Stadium. College Football Texas at Kansas Odds are favoring Mack Brown’s crew at -19.5 against the spread; Saturday’s game total is set at 60 points.

The Charlie Weis era at Kansas looks an awful lot like the Turner Gill one that preceded it as the Jayhawks enter tomorrow’s conference tilt with Texas 1-6 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Up until last weekend, though, Weis could argue that his team had, for the most part, played a more competitive brand of football. The Jayhawks lost 20-6 to TCU in Lawrence and they limited an offensive minded Oklahoma State team to 20 points in a six point loss at Memorial Stadium on October 13th.

However, last Saturday looked more like Kansas meeting with Kansas State (lost 56-16) as the eighth ranked Oklahoma Sooners, despite possessing the ball just 19:49, destroyed Weis’ squad 52-7 in Norman.

Fortunately for the Jayhawks, Texas has already proven itself inferior to the Sooners and its opportunity to show the world it is not on equal footing with Kansas State will present itself on December 1st in Manhattan.

The Longhorns received a great deal of positive press coming into the season, and they appeared to be worthy of it through the first four weeks of play, but many are now wondering if this team is a paper tiger.

Texas has dropped two of its last three games and its much ballyhooed defense is not only not good, it is awful. The Longhorns presently rank 105th in points per game allowed, 109th in rush yards per game allowed, and 110th in yards per game allowed.

Kansas has too many personnel issues to win this game, but it will keep the score closer than most expect, just as it did against the Horned Frogs and Cowboys.

Free Pick: Take Kansas +19.5. The Jayhawks have been solid in every home game this season and their offensive strength (running the ball) is the Longhorns defensive weakness. Kansas will eat plenty of clock in this game running the ball thus limiting Texas offensive opportunities.
