Saturday Baseball Oakland A's vs Toronto Blue Jays Odds, Free Pick

Saturday baseball and we will see the Oakland A's take on the Toronto Blue Jays in game 2 of their 3 game series from the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. First pitch is scheduled for a 1:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on MLB Network.

Current Odds

Oakland     -125
Toronto     +105

Over/ Under: 9 O -120

Analysis: The Oakland A's have been impressive this year and come in with a 30-18 mark on the year overall, including an 18-8 mark on the road. They did lose game one of this series and have now lost 2 in a row. Offensively, they have been very good, ranking 2nd in the league in scoring (5.17 rpg) and 9th in the league in homers (45). They are 15th in hitting, but they really make the most of their hits. This team is not all about hitting, as the come in ranked 2nd in the league in ERA (2.87) and 1st in the league in WHIP (1.11). They are also 5th in quality starts and have a bullpen ERA of 2.95, which is one of the best in the league. Getting the ball for the A's will be Jesse Chavez, who is 4-1 with a 2.54 ERA overall and 2-0 with a 2.32 ERA on the road.

The Toronto Blue Jays are playing good ball right now as they have won 4 in a row and 9 of their last 11 games, to put their record at 27-2 on the year overall, but they have been mediocre at home, where they are just 11-11 on the year. Offensively this is a very solid team that is 5th in the league in scoring (4.95 rpg), 9th in hitting (.256) and 1st in homers (68). This pitching has been a bit of an issue for this team as they come in ranked 24th in ERA (4.26), 29th in WHIP (1.43) and 23rd in quality starts (23). RA Dickey gets the call today and he comes in with a 4-4 mark and a 4.20 ERA overall, but has pitched a bit better of late, going 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA in his last 3 starts. Dickey is 1-4 with a 4.92 ERA in 14 appearances (10 starts) vs the A's.

Pick: I will go with the A's to get back on track here. Jesse Chavez has been solid all year, while RA Dickey has been inconsistent. Dickey has pitched better of late, but he is just 1-4 with a 4.92 ERA in his career vs the A's. The offenses are pretty even here, but the A's have a solid edge on the mound and also this is not a team that will lose 3 games in a row too often this year. The A's are 7-1 in Chavez' last 8 games as a favorite and I say they improve on that here.
