The San Francisco 49ers were a wayward ship under the direction of Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, and Mike Singletary, but Jim Harbaugh has guided the franchise out of troubled waters since taking over as head coach in 2011. In fact, Harbaugh has done better than that as the 49ers went to the NFC Championship in his first season on the sidelines and they reached the Super Bowl last season. Given those results and the level of talent on San Francisco's roster, it is hardly a surprise the odds makers at 5Dimes are expecting a lot from the 49ers this year. The latest 2014 Super Bowl Odds at the offshore bookmaker have Harbaugh's crew listed as a +700 money line play to win the Lombardi Trophy (second only to the Broncos), and they are a +400 favorite ($100 wins $400) to win the NFC Championship. The Niners are, however, favored, at -140 odds, to win fewer than 11.5 games.
Cantor Gaming of Las Vegas, which released lines for every NFL game save week 17 back in May, likes the 49ers to crest that number, though. San Francisco is favored by the bookmaker in every game with the exception of two, a week two clash with the Seahawks in Seattle and a week 11 meeting with the Saints at the Superdome. The Niners are lined as +2.5 against the spread dog and Pick'em selection in those two games, respectively.
