Pro Football Betting Odds New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers Free Pick

NFL Week 9 and we will see the New Orleans Saints take on the Carolina Panthers at Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The game has a start time of 8:25 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on the NFL Network. Current Vegas odds have the Saints listed as 3 point favorites, while the total is set at 49.

Analysis: The Saints have not had a good year so far, but they do come in with confidence after beating Green Bay by a score of 44-23 last week. That game was at home, but this one is on the road, where they are 0-4 SU on the year. are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 9, but they are also 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Carolina. New Orleans is one of the best offensive teams in the league, ranking 2nd in total yards, 2nd in passing, 7th in rushing and 5th in scoring (28.4 ppg). On the defensive side of the ball it is not so good, as they rank 28th in yards allowed, 31st vs the pass, 10th vs the run and 26th in points allowed (26.9 ppg).

The Carolina Panthers lead the NFC South Division with a 3-4-1 record, but they are 0-2-1 in their last two games and have really been hit hard by injuries of late. The Panthers are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 home games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. NFC South, plus 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Panthers are not a good offensive team, as they come in ranked 24th in total yards, 17th in passing, 27th in rushing and 24th in scoring (20.9 ppg). The defense has not been all that great for the Panthers, as they come in ranked 21st overall, 18th vs the pass, 28th vs the run and 25th in points allowed (26.0 ppg).

Pick: As someone put it in my Monday night thread that all games can't go Under the Total. I am aware of that and Im also away that Overs have been killing it in these primetime NFL games, but Im also away of the fact that the Carolina offense is pitiful right now and the fact that the Saints have trouble scoring away from home, especially on grass, which can slow down this high powered attack. The Under is 6-1 in their last 7 games on grass and last year they did score just 13 points here. The Saints are off an impressive offensive showing vs the Packers, but i can see them being a bit flat after that game and it should show up on the offensive end. The Panthers have struggled on defense this year, but played a very good game vs Seattle in their last game, which should translate to confidence in this one. We also note that Carolina has allowed just 20.3 ppg at home this year and have scored just 20 ppg on grass fields. A few trends of note: The Under is 9-2 the last 11 meetings in Carolina and the Under is 15-6 in the Panthers last 21 on grass, plus 10-2 in their last 12 games vs the NFC. I see this game putting up no more than 42 points.
