Analysis: Since opening the year with a shocking loss to FCS foe Eastern Washington, the Beavers have reeled off 4 straight wins, which includes a 2-0 start in conference play. They are coming off a bye week, and their last outing resulted in a 44-17 shellacking of Colorado at home on Sept. 28. Sean Mannion has taken huge strides in his third season under center completing 67.2 percent of his passes and leads the nation in passing yards with 2,018, while tossing an FBS-leading 21 touchdowns paired against only two picks. His favorite target is Brandin Cooks, who leads the nation in receptions (52), receiving yards (807) and touchdown catches (9). On defense, the Beavers allow 31.6 ppg and 405.6 ypg, but on the bright side the unit is able to get off the field by holding opponents to just a 29 percent conversion rate on third down.
Washington State has been one of the most pleasant surprises in the Pac-12 as its four wins have already surpassed its total from the entire 2012 campaign (3-9). The Cougars have won two of their three conference matchups, the most recent of which being a 44-22 decision against California last week. Washington State's offense has been very good at times, scoring more than 40 points in three games, while not so good at other times, scoring 17 points or less twice. Overall, the Cougars sit with impressive numbers (30.8 ppg, 418.3 ypg). Connor Halliday leads this offense and has thrown for 1,993 yards ,with 13 touchdowns, but he has also thrown 10 interceptions, which is second-most in the country. Defensively, Washington State has played well in allowing just 20.8 ppg, but most of its success has come against lackluster competition. Against nationally-ranked Stanford on Sept. 28, the defense was torched for 55 points.
Pick: Going with the Over n this one. Both offense have more than enough weapons to put 30+ points on the board, especially vs suspect defenses. Te Beavers defense has allowed 31.6 ppg on the year and while the Wazzou defense has looked good overall, they allowed 55 point in their only game vs a real opponent (Stanford). This one should be fun.
