Oregon won 12 games for a third consecutive year in 2012 as it finished the regular season with an 11-1 mark before knocking off Kansas State 35-17 in the Fiesta Bowl. The Ducks will look to continue that run this year, but they will do so with a new head coach as Chip Kelly bolted for the NFL. Taking Kelly's place is Mark Helfrich, who served as offensive coordinator at Oregon the last four seasons. Helfrich inherits a talent rich roster as 15 starters, including Marcus Mariota and De'Anthony Thomas, return to Eugene. Given the returning talent, as well as Helfrich's familiarity with it, it is no great shock the latest BCS Championship Odds have Oregon as one of the favorites to contend for the Coaches Trophy. The Ducks are drawing +925 to win the National Championship and their 2013 regular season win total is set at 11 games (Under favored at -140 odds).
Oregon's biggest regular season challenge figures to come from last year's Pac 12 champion, Stanford. The Ducks, who lost 14-17 at home to the Cardinal last season, will meet Stanford in Palo Alto on November 7th. Early games lines at the LVH and Golden Nugget sports books both have Oregon favored in that contest. The Ducks are laying four points at the LVH while the Golden Nugget has them lined as a -3 against the spread favorite.
