The Utah Utes are on the road in Pac 12 College Football action tonight, taking on the USC Trojans. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Trojans favored to pick up the win over the third-ranked team in the country.
Hard to believe the third-ranked team in the country is an underdog to a 3-3 USC team, but that’s where Utah finds itself tonight. The Utes have been arguably the best team in the country through six games, but they’re going to get all they want and more tonight from a Trojans team looking to avoid going under the .500 mark.
USC has been a mess this season. Steve Sarkisian was booted from the university over an alcohol problem, AD Pat Haden really mismanaged that situation. It doesn’t help that USC is a historic program, but Clay Helton looks to be the right guy for the job moving forward.
The Utes are the only Pac 12 team that is unbeaten on the season, but they will have to overcome some history tonight to win their second straight over the Trojans. The last time Utah won consecutive games over USC was the 1915-16 seasons, obviously Utah has not been this good forever.
Cody Kessler is going to need a big game for the Trojans. He’s got weapons all over the field, led by JuJu Smith-Schuster, one of the biggest playmakers in the country. Adoree' Jackson might be the fastest guy in the country, he is a big-play guy on special teams and it starting to get more touches in the offense.
Utah will look to give the football to Devontae Booker quite a bit. He’s averaging 130.5 yards per game on the ground and is also the leading receiver. Clearly USC is going to be keying on him, Travis Wilson and the other Utah players are going to have to find a way to beat the Trojans.
This line stinks. Somebody knows something the rest of the country doesn’t.
