Saturday night will see the NHL Playoffs Game 7 between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network. Currently the odds have the Rangers favored to win the game at -140 (Risk $140 to bring back $100).
The Rangers have been tabbed by the oddsmakers as the favorite in this game and have been picked to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals against the New Jersey Devils. Both the Rangers and Caps have played a tough series to date and Game 7s are always exciting in the NHL. New York has the luxury of playing this game at home which has to feel good, considering they were 27-12-2 at Madison Square Garden this season and they have already won two of the three games played there in this series. However, in their first round series they split with Ottawa (2-2) in home games.
This has been a great series as the teams have been tied or within a goal for nearly 90 percent of the ice time. The Rangers have scored 13 goals while the Caps have totaled 12 in the six previous games. Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist has come up big for the team so far and will have to continue that play tonight. Caps goalie Braden Holtby has played well also and has done a good job of keeping his team in the series. Remember, Washington won a Game 7 in the first round over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins.
In what many consider to be the most entertaining sports games around, Game 7 could prove to be a great watch for tonight. The Rangers have been tabbed as the oddsmakers' choice to win, but in Game 7 it's literally anybody's to win. I'm thinking the game will be tight throughout and should be a good one. I'll take the Rangers to win the game based on Lundqvist coming up huge for his team and advancing them one step closer to the Cup Finals.
