The Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers are set for a showdown this afternoon at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte (4:05pm ET start time, FOX). The Seahawks are drawing +120 moneyline odds ($100 wins $120) and the Over/Under is set at 42 points.

Many felt going into last week’s game against the Rams that Seattle had a great opportunity to extend its win streak to three games, but those individuals, perhaps, underestimated St. Louis, which looks like a new team under the guidance of Jeff Fisher.

So, instead, the Seahawks will look to start a new streak this afternoon against Carolina. The Panthers, it could be argued, are being overvalued here as a result of their close loss at Atlanta.

The Falcons represented a far better match up for Carolina's offense than does Seattle as Cam Newton and his cohorts are able to exploit Atlanta on the ground. The Panthers will be hard pressed to do that against the Seahawks stingy defense. Seattle presently ranks second in yards per game allowed, giving up just 275.8 per contest, and its 14.5 points per game allowed average is also second best in the league behind Houston.

Conversely, the Panthers porous defense should provide the Seahawks struggling offense an opportunity to break free a bit. Carolina is giving up an average of 27.2 points and 393.8 yards per game on the season, and its major weakness (defending the run) is Seattle’s offensive strength.
